Kitchen Cabinet Face Lift

Painted Kitchen Cabinets 006

I love how the cabinets turned out and I love how much brighter my kitchen is! I will be honest…I don’t ever want to do this project again by myself, being sick, sick kids, husband out of town and it seems like I painted for days.  Just a bigger project than I thought it would be and the cabinets aren’t perfect. In fact lots of areas still need touch ups, I was going to distress them but, I couldn’t decide the best way to go about that. I just decided to take them how they are for now and get my life back in order!

Here are a few more pics and I will save all the details for another post as I am off to enjoy the 80 degree weather and sunshine with the kids!

This cabinet is sure pretty but, it was a lot of work!

Tutorial Moss Topiaries

Topiaries 004
Quick, fun and inexpensive project for Spring Decorating! I had so much fun making these Moss Topiaries on whim yesterday after finding all the supplies at Wal-Mart in the candle/floral isle when I went to pick up a few new spring colored candles for the mantel.
~What You Will Need For Moss Topiaries~
Container, floral foam base, foam ball, floral moss, natural accents moss foam nugget accents, sticks for your stem and hot glue.
Topiaries 002
I reconstructed one topiary and made another one from scratch. Start with your base and cut the foam to fit your container…I used a steak knife. Then find some thin sticks or cut a branch of a bush and pull the leaves off to be used for your stem. I used 2 small sticks and floral taped them together or wire would work too. Place your foam ball on your stem and then place your stem into your floral base. Next start gluing on your floral accent foam nuggets…I used only the small ones in the package and saved the large ones for something else. Once you have your moss nuggets glued on start gluing on the moss by pulling the moss apart and gluing it like a patch work puzzle until you have covered the whole foam ball.

I then glued moss around the stem and then placed a few small moss nuggets on top of the moss and glued those in as well. I happened to get the topiary I reconstructed on clearance 5 years ago and it has been sitting around waiting to be re-done.  The other container I just picked up at the thrift store and thought it was perfect for spring decorating.  So be on the look out for some cute containers at the second hand stores or clearance departments.

I have been working hard in the kitchen last week on my cabinets {besides also having my head all stuffed up, no voice, husband out of town/single parent for the week, twins birthday mid week and the comings and going of 5 busy kids} and I hope to have them finished by the end of this week.  It has been a more tedious project then I thought and I am trying to not rush the process.
Here is a mid way sneak peak…

I am loving how much lighter my kitchen feels! Now to get back to work and knock it out and put the paint away for awhile!

Real Southern Living Quote-Love Is Special

I saw this on Pinterest and just had to post.
“Falling in love is easy
But staying in love
is very SPECIAL”
So very true! A good reminder to always cherish each other.  Having a wonderful marriage is hard work sometimes but, so worth it to have your soul mate by your side for life.
{I have been a slacker on my quote of the week the last few Sundays and getting back on track this week!}

Home Command Center

Home Project #11
command center
I decided to get a head start on spring cleaning! I was so tired of the counters and table constantly being covered with papers and ‘stuff’.  How so much stuff gets piled up so quickly I still haven’t figured out!  I’m sure everyone has a spot in your home where everything gets dumped. {please tell me I’m not the only one?!!!}  So I created my own Home Command Center knowing full well stuff will get dumped on it but, at least we have a spot for the ‘stuff’ so I can feel some what organized even amidst the clutter.

Restore America- Meeting Mitt and Ann Romney

My Husband and I are huge Romney supporters!

We lived in Salt Lake City during the Olympics and saw first hand how he turned around a very bad situation and made the SLC 2002 Olympics the most profitable Olympics in U.S. history.  After the closing ceremonies my husband made the comment that it would be awesome if Mitt would run for President some day.  Of course Mitt went on to become the Governor of Massachusetts and helped turn that state around as well.  He has 25+ years in business creating profitable companies that are very successful. So in 2007 when we heard Mitt was putting together an exploratory committee to run for President in 2008 we were super excited!
Mitt for Pres
July of 2007 Mitt Romney came to Atlanta and here I am getting my picture taken with him.  What was his message? The Economy and his concerns of where our country was headed if not directed properly.  What did everyone want to talk about…the war!  What happened the last 4 years…the economy down fall! I have never been big into politics but, in 2008 I helped arranged a call center in our area during the Primary’s.  Of course when Mitt bowed out of the race in 2008 we were disappointed but, he is back better than ever!
Yesterday my husband, 2 oldest daughters and I had the privileged of meeting Ann Romney and listening to her speak here in Georgia.

Gulf Coast - San Destin

Day 3 of our trip to the Gulf Coast we decided to check out the bay side of the San Destin Resort.  We stayed on the beach side so we rented bikes again and headed out.
